Q My teenage granddaughter has IBS and while out shopping, she needed the loo. A shop allowed her to use theirs, but we had to convince them. Is she allowed to use any toilet in an emergency?

Name and address supplied Yours says Shops are not obliged, or insured, to allow you to use ‘employee only’ areas but she can apply for the widely-accepted Can’t Wait Card to show a member of staff. A Radar key (from the IBS Network) will also give her access to locked public toilets in shopping centres, pubs, stores and bus/train stations.
