A very special gift

-

In March I was in intensive care with Covid-19 and was told I had a 34 per cent chance of survival. I realised that if I died, much of my life story would be lost to my family. I beat the virus and when out of hospital, although weak, I started on a book of my life story to give to my granddaughter this Christmas. I included my favourite colour, flower and sayings, as well as photographs of the house I was born in (as was my dad, grandfather and great-grandfather).There were for word. They don’t make music like that any more and I doubt they ever will! We loved flower power and floppy hats, with flowers on clips in our hair. I saw Dave Berry live at Barnsley Civic Hall and The Tremeloes in Wakefield. Happy days.

Yours says: Thanks for your letter Heather. Do any other readers have memories of seeing Sixties’ bands live? Let us know at the Yours address on page 3 photos of my childhood, my working life, things that had changed in the 70 years of my life, as well as my marriage, my daughter’s pregnancy, and photos of my eightmonth-old granddaughter. I hope this handwritten photographic book will be enjoyed by my family and passed down the generations as a family heirloom.

So what did I do on lockdown?

I have the proof of my labours in my 85-page book of my life story.

Was love better the second time around? We never forget our first love, but sometimes – for all sorts of reasons – we are lucky enough to fall in love all over again. A later love often benefits from the life lessons we have learned. If you have experienced the joy

(or sadness) of finding romance twice, we would love to hear your story, (with a photo if you have one) marked Blast from the Past to the address on page 3. Published letters receive a £10 High Street voucher.

■ We want to celebrate our most loyal readers. If you’d like to be our subscriber of the fortnight, send us a picture and tell us how long you’ve been a subscriber and what you like best about Yours.

Excellent service

Re requests for excellent customer service stories, I recently received a voucher for a free sample of puppy food but couldn’t find it on sale anywhere. I wrote to the firm asking if they would be so kind as to send me a packet and they sent me a 14lb sack of food! Unfortunately my little Yorkie puppy didn’t like it, but I passed it on to an animal sanctuary who were very grateful. Rosemary Medland, Herts
