Short story

The visitors’ book in a Welsh holiday cottage has a story to tell…

Thank you, Brian and Linda, for a wonderful stay. Starfish Cottage is a real gem – you are so lucky to own it! This was my first visit to Wales and, after a bit of a challenging time health-wise, it was just what I needed.

Riding a horse along the beach has always been on my bucket list so it was a lovely surprise to find the cottage is just a short drive from the stables.

Just one problem – I almost put the plastic tray from my microwave lasagne into the blue bin by mistake, but Neil from Seahorse Cottage next door came over and put me straight!

I would definitely like to come again at a different time of year. Maybe Christmas, if you’re not already booked? Thanks again.

We came here to spend some time together before our baby is born – the calm before the storm! Thanks so much for the roses and the bottle of fizz (even though only my hubby could drink it). We fell in love with the whole area, the boats in the harbour and the ‘coconut’ perfume of the gorse. We’ve had some wonderful walks with Archie. Best wishes, Ruth and Paul Smith and ‘the bump’ (Chester)

PS. Archie says ‘Sorry for the paw marks on the sofa’. Hopefully they’ll wash off.

Hello again, Brian and Linda!

We are back for our annual visit. We found the cottage as well-appointed as ever although Mavis (the wife) thought the oven needed a good scrub. She has seen to it and left you a bottle of Mr Muscle.

The weather hasn’t been great as it rained six days out of seven but we’re not complaining. This is Wales, after all! Looks like being our last visit as we are about to exchange contracts on a timeshare in Dubai. If all goes to plan, we’ll be spending Christmas in the sun. No more staycations for us!

All the best, the Butterworth family (Chesterfield)

FAO the owners. It took a while to figure out how the oven worked (we have gas at home!) and the en-suite shower was underwhelming. Disappointing overall. The Archers (E Sussex)

Heavenly to be back – I couldn’t wait until Christmas! But Linda it was a shock to see the For Sale sign up in the front garden. Makes me sad to think I might not be able to have another holiday here. Everyone in the village is so friendly. When the power went Neil from next door produced some tea lights and we sat outside until nearly midnight drinking hot chocolate. Angela (again)
