You will need:

A hard, ringbound scrapbook or notebook Felt pens, thick and fine Double-sided tape Patterned paper Glue stick Pencil & ruler Scissors Craft knife

Turn your scrapbook so that the coil is along the top, open it up and on the first page create a cover page for the year. Write a motivational quote on a separate piece of paper with a thick black pen then cut it out as shown.

Choose patterned papers that complement one another and rip into strips to layer behind the quote.

To create calendar pages, measure and draw out a grid in pencil which is seven boxes by five boxes. Make sure you leave one page between each calendar page for the pocket pages you will be adding later.

Once you’ve drawn out the calendar grid in pencil, use a black fine liner to make it stand out. Rub out any remaining pencil lines. Add coloured lines along the top of the grid ready to write on the days of the week.

Using a thick felt pen, write out the month in the blank space at the top of the grid. With the fine pen fill in the dates for the calendar and pop the days of the week on top of the coloured lines, then decorate around the word with doodles that correspond with that month if you wish (we did snowflakes for January).

To create the pocket pages between each month, cut some patterned paper to 15x20cm (6x8in). Measure out half an inch at the bottom and two sides and draw lines. Cut off the corners diagonally and fold the half-inch flaps inwards to make it into a pocket.

Before sticking the pocket to the page, use a craft knife to cut a slot in the middle of the pocket wherever you want (we’ve put it to the right of the pocket). This will allow you to add smaller mementos or photos from the month into the pocket. You can add more than one slot if you prefer.

Attach the pocket to the page by applying doublesided tape to the back of the flaps and sticking it down. Decorate the pocket using a similar colour scheme to the calendar page and fill the pocket with mementos you’ve collected during the month.

To finish the calendar album, write out the year 2021 on a separate piece of paper using a thick pen and cut out the individual numbers. Choose patterned papers to create a base for the numbers to sit on. If the cover has a busy pattern, choose papers that are less busy to add balance.

Stick the numbers and patterned paper down on the front of the scrapbook album. You could add a few other elements around this if you want to perosnalise it or give as a gift to someone else.
