HAVE A SPARE LAPTOP?
Prem has been approached by people nationwide asking how they can help with computers in their areas. At the last count, 30 laptop ‘superheroes’ were carrying out similar services (albeit without tuk-tuks) in towns and cities throughout the UK. Prem has offered advice and training and knowledge is being shared via a new Facebook group Laptops4kids which also aims to educate parents how to repurpose the laptops themselves.
Most laptops under ten years old with Windows software are suitable, according to Prem. A quick way to check is to examine the Microsoft sticker on the back of the laptop which will tell you which version of Windows is installed. If it says Windows XP it is not suitable. If it reads Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 then it’s good.
