CUYAHOGA FALLS - Dorothy Joyce Judy went home to be with the Lord on March 24, 2024, the day after her 90th birthday. She was born in Sioux Falls, SD to the late Herbert and Bernice Blackburn. During her adult years she also lived in Pierre, SD; Salem, OR; and Denver, CO; settling in Cuyahoga Falls in 1972.

Preceded in death by her husband, Ivan, she is survived by her children, Teresa (Stephen) Zachary, Jack (Joye), David (Scott), James (Lisa), Rex, Cecil (Milana) and Lucretia (David) Brenner; 12 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy lived as a deeply committed Christian; Jesus was the center of her life and she strove to share Him and the hope of eternal life with others. She served her family with diligence, steadfastly supporting and working beside her husband through 45 years of marriage. She worked locally managing the Imperial 400 Motel in Akron, cleaning at the Akron Federal Building, and as a school crossing guard in Cuyahoga Falls. She faithfully attended the Cathedral of Tomorrow and later Journey Covenant Church, making many lifelong friends. She loved people deeply and lived the gospel by sharing her home with various people in times of need, visiting the lonely and ill and taking meals to the hungry.

During the last years of her life, declining health required her to reside at St. Luke Community in N. Canton, yet she loved to receive visitors and avidly enjoyed playing cards with family, (especially Five Crowns and Kings in the Corner)! Her family expresses thanks to the staff at St. Luke and Crossroad Hospice for their loving care.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Monday April 1, 2024 at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St. in Cuyahoga Falls. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday April 2, at the Journey Covenant Church, 2679 N Haven Bld. in Cuyahoga Falls.

In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association at www.billygraham.org.
