AKRON - Arthur Thomas Schooley, age 91, passed away on April 13, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jean; son Jay (Andrea) of Bethesda, MD, son David (Claudine) of Tucson, AZ, and daughter Linda Busack (Fred) of Safety Harbor, FL, plus grandchild­ren Christophe­r Schooley, Patrick Schooley, Rachelle Schooley, Jordane Schooley and Duncan Busack.

Art was born July 4,1932 in Plymouth, PA to Arthur Cletus and Mary Ann Schooley (nee Thomas). He grew up in Camp Hill, PA and graduated from Camp Hill High School. He earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineerin­g from Carnegie Mellon University where he was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity. He was awarded a Master’s degree in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Akron and was a chemical engineer at B.F. Goodrich Research Center for 35 years.

He was a member of the National and Local AIChE, the American Chemical Society and Goodrich retirees’“Marching and Chowder Society”. As a long-time member of the Westminste­r Presbyteri­an Church, he served on the Endowment Committee. He volunteere­d for the Summit County Metro Parks and earned 42 Hiking Spree badges.

In retirement he and Jean enjoyed traveling across all seven continents. They visited over 200 National Parks and Historical Sites and sailed on 30 cruises including a World Cruise.

A family graveside service is planned. Memorial contributi­ons may be made to Westminste­r Presbyteri­an Church Endowment Fund, Summit County Metro Parks, or a charity of your choice.
