Burnt Hills beats state’s top team

Number two Class A Burnt Hills girls’ volleyball beat the number one team in the state Class B, John Glenn, in the finals of the Burnt Hills-ballston Lake Cider Challenge, 25-15,2518.

Carlie Rzeszotars­ki finished .463 with 29 kills and Claire Isaksen had 90 assists for the tournament. boys soccer: Jack Mendrysa landed four goals to lead CBA to a 10-0 shutout against Catholic High in a Colonial Council boy’s soccer match. Brady Van Epps also contribute­d two goals and an assist for the Brothers . ... Edgar Gomez scored Ichabod Crane’s only two goals against La Salle, leading them to a 2-1 win. Justin Meza made the assist. Ichabod’s Spencer Bates saved seven in the net and La Salle’s Anthony Rotello made an incredible effort with 21 saves . ... girls soccer: Niskayuna shutout Troy 5-0 with Olivia Piraino leading the way with two goals and an assist . ... Mechanicvi­lle had a 4-0 shutout against Waterford. Ashley Higgins, Nevaeh D’alioa, Mikayla Nadler and Dani Rubino each sunk one goal a piece. Savannah Bowie made six saves for the Red Raiders and Caer Burns saved 14 for Waterford.

field hockey: Emma Heartquist led the Ichabod Crane Lady Riders to a 4-1 victory over Gloversvil­le with two unassisted goals. Jenna Rothwein and Felicia Chiera each earned a goal and Julianne Lagrassa grabbed an assist. Carolinie White made six saves for Ichabod. Rileigh Baldwin was the lone scorer for Gloversvil­le.

girls cross country: Shaker won the Ocean State Invitation­al in Rhode Island with a score of 116. Kaleigh Higgins placed fourth overall with a time of 19:12.71.
