National Voter Registration Day
TROY — The Rensselaer County’s League of Women Voters will be registering voters beginning Tuesday, at various locations, as part of this year’s National Registration Day.

Wellspring hosts Pooch Parade
SARATOGA — Wellspring is hosting the eighth annual Pooch Parade beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday in Congress Park, to raise awareness about domestic violence and its Safe Pet Partnership.
In collaboration with the Adirondack Veterinary Clinic, this family-friendly event will feature nail clippings (pawdicures), pet vendors, an agility course, free giveaways, a raffle and more, followed by a walk through the park.

Charity tennis tourney Sept. 30
LATHAM — The fifth annual Serve for the Cause tennis tournament begins at 10 a.m. Sept. 30 at Tri-city Fitness, 944 New Loudon Road.
This round robin-style tournament includes men’s and women’s doubles, 18 years and older, a luncheon, social events, prizes and more. Participants can register with a partner or individually to be paired up during the event.
The entry fee is $50 per player and includes all events during the event. Guests are also encouraged to wear pink. Prizes will be awarded for attire.

St. Peter’s to host annual Apple Fest
WATERVLIET — St. Peter’s Armenian Apostolic Church is hosting its second annual Apple Fest beginning at noon Sept. 30 at the Postoian Pavilion, 100 Troyschenectady Road.
The event will feature a penny social, an applethemed bake off, apple tastings, holiday items, live music by the Greg Nazarian Trio, carnival games and other kid activities.
The fest will also include a manti soup lunch, cheese beoreg, desserts
samples and frozen manti for sale, $15 per pound.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for children 12 and under. Family tickets are $50 maximum.

Train for annual Troy Turkey Trot
TROY — The Troy Turkey Trot has launched a 10-week Training Challenge, ending Nov. 22 on race day.
Each week, participants will meet at 6 p.m. at Prospect Park for a Monday evening exercise session involving walking, jogging and/or running. An 8 a.m. Saturday run at Knickerbacker Park in Lansingburgh will follow. Participants are also expected to complete a third workout on their own.
There will be two group options for 5k training: beginner and intermediate, and one for 10k runners.
All participants will receive a high performance Turkey Trot Challenge T-shirt and weekly emails regarding the challenge. The program fee is $40 and does not include entry into the Troy Turkey Trot. Registration ends Oct. 1.

Annual memorial golf tournament
ALBANY — Turf Hotels and the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York are hosting the Annual Jake Straughter Memorial Golf Tournament for Epilepsy beginning at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 1 at Wolferts Roost Country Club, 120 Van Rensselaer Blvd.
The tournament will feature nine par three holes and nine regulation holes, a barbecue lunch and an awards reception with dinner and an open bar.
The event will also include a $1 Million Shootout Challenge, with the winner receiving $500,000 and the same amount going to the Epilepsy Foundation of NENY, and a Putting
Beer and pretzel fundraising event
SELKIRK — The Bethlehem Historical Association is hosting a Beer and Pretzel Fundraising event at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Cedar Hill Schoolhouse Museum, 1003 River Road.
Guests will have the chance to enjoy a brew, while learning about the history of brewing beer in the area from local historian and beer enthusiast Richard Muggeo, during his talk “Beer, Brewers and Beverwyck.”
Tickets are $10 each and include one beer, or a nonalcoholic beverage and a pretzel.
