Designers honored
Two local interior designers picked up awards at an event held by the New York Upstate/canada East chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers on Friday in Syracuse. The annual contest categories are residential, commercial and “outside the box.” It is open to any member in the chapter, which includes eastern Canada and all of New York outside of New York City.
Julie Maleski Putzel of JMP Interiors won second place for the glam closet she designed for a client in Ballston Spa. Afton Beattie, a 2018 graduate of the Sage Colleges, will be recognized for her project called Reinventing the Classroom: Creating a Middle School that Meets Today’s Pedagogy, which she entered in the chapter’s student competition. Beattie is now a junior designer at Standard Commercial Interiors in Albany.
