Erie Canal for Kids, State Museum, 222 Madison Ave., Albany. 2 p.m. Free. Learn about life on the Erie Canal and what you might do for fun and what you would wear. Use a 1903 canal map as you imagine yourself on a boat traveling through the many locks of the waterway.

Irish Literature Open Mic,

The principal cellist of the Livingston Symphony Orchestra in New Jersey performs solo cello music with selections from classical music, Broadway, big band, and internatio­nal folk music. He is a former resident of Clifton Park. Sunny Sundays at the Dudley Observator­y at misci, Museum of Innovation and Science, 15 Nott Terrace Heights, Schenectad­y. 1 p.m. $12, $8 child.
