The congregation elected
Julie Novkov as president, Ann Lowenfels as president-elect, Eric Goldberg as vice president, Joan Savitt as finance vice president, Julie Friedman as secretary and David Dipaola as treasurer. Nancy Goody and Margaret Tabak were elected as trustees. Novkov succeeds Barbara Devore as president. She previously served as presidentelect and served a term as president of B’yachad board and was a member of the scholarship committee. Lowenfels is a newly elected officer. Goldberg, Savitt, Friedman and Dipaola continue as officers. Novkov is a professor of political science and women’s, gender and sexuality studies at the University at Albany where she has worked since 2006. She is also director of undergraduate advising at Ualbany. She holds doctoral and master’s degrees from the University of Michigan, a law degree from New York University and bachelor’s degrees from Harvard and Radcliffe.

Meriam Murray hired as an interior designer. Murray joined the firm in 2019 as an intern while studying at Sage Colleges. While at Sage she was a student member of the American Society of Interior Designers, served as the assistant to the interior and spatial design director, and was an officer of the Interior Design club. At architecture+, she has contributed to a number of health care and education projects and is working on the interior design of a mental health hospital in Michigan.

Elizabeth Martin was named chief executive officer. Martin succeeds founder Fredrick Erlich, who served as CEO for 46 years. Martin was previously CEO of Consumer Directed Choices since 2012. Prior to that she was director of administration at Albany County Department of Social Services. She has also served as president of the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Association. Living Resources provides life-enhancing services to more than 1,200 individuals with developmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries.
■ NEW YORK STATE DIVISION OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY SERVICES
William Balfe completed the Recruit Firefighting Training program at the Academy of
Fire and Science and will be assigned to the fire department at Albany International Airport. The 11-week residential program was adapted to accommodate remote learning for classroombased portions, but also consisted of on-site training.
