Mulholland and Grupe score, Ross saves 6 in shutout

Ella Mulholland scored in the first overtime and Ella Grupe added another goal in the second overtime as first-place Greenville remained undefeated with a 2-0 road win at Maple Hill in a Patroon Conference girls’ soccer game.

Chloe Ross made six saves to earn the shutout for Greenville (7-0). Mia Fleck made three stops for Maple Hill (5-2).

More girls’ soccer: Julie Bancheri scored in the 19th minute to give Colonie the lead, but Niskayuna’s Maria Tsakalakos tied the game with an unassisted goal in the 33rd minute as Colonie and Niskayuna played to a 1-1 tie. ... Mayah Wheeler scored two goals as Shaker rallied from an early deficit to beat Columbia 5-1. Meaghan Sambrook gave the Blue Devils the lead early on, but Kaylee Alix tied the game and Bella Tronco gave Shaker the lead for good. Bria Labella and Lauren Mccullogh combined to make five saves for Shaker.

Field hockey: Jane Ginley netted a hat trick and Riley Jameson added a goal and an assist as Saratoga crushed Niskayuna 6-0 in a Suburban Council game. Ginley scored twice in the first quarter and Jameson added another to stake the Blue Streaks to a 3-0 lead at the half. Ginley and Jameson connected for another score in the third quarter to complete Ginley’s hat trick. Saratoga led 15-0 in corners and 18-0 in shots. ... Rachel Sterle had a goal and an assist in Shenendeho­wa’s 3-0 win over Guilderlan­d at Clifton Common. Sterle scored in the first quarter and assisted on Kendall Eggleston’s goal in the second quarter. Molly Miller capped the scoring with her first varsity goal in the third quarter. Brianna Anslow made four saves for the Lady Plainsmen (5-1). Bianca Simeone made 14 saves for the Lady Dutch (3-2).

Boys’ soccer: Lucas Varghese scored two goals and assisted on another to spark Saratoga to a 5-0 win over Troy. Jack Donnelly got Saratoga on the board off a pass from Dan Somoza in the 17th minute. Owen Lawrence scored in the final minute of the first half off a pass from Garrett Hedge.

Hedge scored in the first minute of the second half. Varghese scored in the 43rd and 47th minutes, the second a one-timer off a cross from Hedge to the far post. Saratoga improved to 4-1-1, while Troy drops to 0-6-0. ... Brady Bell finished a loose ball in the box to break a scoreless tie in the second half and Cameron Mingle beat Blue Bisons keeper Ethan Andrews to the top of the box later in the half as Columbia topped Shaker, 3-0, in a Suburban Council match. Tyler Mcglaughli­n made five saves to earn the shutout.
