Queensbury and Scotia take crowns
Greski, James win individual races at Foothills title meet
Queensbury won the boys’ team title and Scotia captured the girls’ championship at the Foothills Council cross country championships held on the 5-kilometer course at Queensbury.
Noah Greski and Tyler Greene of Scotia finished 1-2 in the boys’ race. Greski crossed the finish line first in 17 minutes 5.5 seconds, with Greene less than two seconds back. Jack Hicks (Queensbury), Cowan Leninger (South Glens Falls) and Connor Wiekierak (Queensbury) rounded out the top five.
Five runners from Queensbury placed in the Top 13.
Three Tartans placed in the top five of the girls’ race, including race winner Stephanie James, who finished in 20:18, nearly 12 seconds ahead of runnerup Clara Avery of Glens Falls. Erin Smith and Delaney Krogh finished third and fifth, respectively, for Scotia. Miranda Habshi of Queensbury finished fourth.
Boys’ soccer: Park Scott scored two goals, including the game-winner off a cross from Owen Hughes late in the second half as Burnt Hills rallied to beat Columbia, 3-2. Brady Bell gave Columbia the early lead, but Scott tied it with a low drive 20 minutes into the game. The Blue Devils reclaimed the lead on Cameron Mingle’s long shot in the second half, but Stephen Zarub drew the Spartans even again.
Girls’ soccer: Micaela Tahoe had two goals and an assist by halftime as Shaker remained undefeated with an 8-0 win over Troy. Jewel Tanskley and Vivian Nartey each added a goal and an assist for the Blue Bison (9-0-1).
