Northeast Kidney Foundation
The
held its annual Catwalk For Kidneys Fashion Show on Nov. 8. It raised $54,431 to help the fight against kidney disease, surpassing the Foundation’s initial fundraising goal of $50,000.
Walmart will offer customers the option to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to
The Salvation Army. Customers can do this in stores at manned cash registers, on Walmart.com or through the Walmart app. Through Dec. 31. More information: Rescuechristmas.org
Sterling Homes Real Estate and the Regional Food Bank’s Holiday Hero Project charity drive across the Capital Region runs until Dec. 18. Drop off anytime: 1487 Saratoga Rd, Ballston Spa (across from Mangino GMC). Non-perishable food.
Under the Excelsior College Community Engagement Group. employees have personally contributed over $22,000 to charitable organizations, including $13,000 in student scholarships this year.
Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady presented a $4,396 check this month to the American Cancer Society to support their mission to end breast cancer. The funds were raised during the casino’s PINKtober breast cancer awareness campaign in October.
Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts
will donate up to 150 coronavirus test kits to North Adams Public Schools available for optional testing for all hybrid or in-person NAPS staff on Monday, Nov. 23.
Through the annual Jeffrey Fryar and Green Tech High Annual Feed The Community Day, Green Tech High in Albany planned to deliver Thanksgiving baskets to families in the community.
The Albany County Legislature’s Democratic Majority’s Adopt-a-family Basket Raffle ended Friday with about $3,050 raised through ticket sales and donations. Proceeds go to families in need through the Department of Children, Youth and Families.
The Mohonasen Founda
for Excellence has donated $20,000 to the RotterdamMohonasen school district to help support students and staff during the pandemic. The funds will allow teachers and district officials to buy items to improve virtual and on-site learning, including computer monitors, cameras, speakers and personal protective equipment.
The Schenectady Foundation has awarded a $20,000 grant to the Schenectady Jewish Community Center to help the JCC continue to provide critical child care for county residents.
High School students from the Colonie Youth Advisory Board plan a food drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at The Crossings Park to benefit food pantries in the schools in North and South Colonie which provide non-perishable food items to students and families in need.
Soroptimist International of Saratoga County announces the availability of $16,800 in funds for organizations that support the needs of women and girls in Saratoga County. Deadline to apply is Jan. 31. Visit www.soroptimistsaratoga.org.
Dunkin’ and Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy last week announced the collection of nearly 10,000 toys during a two-part drive-thru collection event to benefit Capital Region Toys for Tots.
Scout Troop 502 plans a holiday wreath sale on “Black Friday” 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 27 at the Pawling Avenue Methodist Church at 520 Pawling Avenue in Troy. The troop is asking $25 for each wreath. Funds raised will support Scouting for boys and young men aged 10 to 18 in Troy and North Greenbush for the coming year.
