Meronk’s lead cut to one for final round at Dunhill

MALELANE, South Africa — Adrian Meronk clung on to take a one-shot lead into the final round of the European Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Championsh­ip on Saturday.

Meronk went to 14 under overall with a 1-under 71, cutting into his three-shot Friday lead.

Jayden Schaper had a 5-under 67 to go to second at 13 under. He had an eagle and two birdies on his last four holes.

Christiaan Bezuidenho­ut is third at 11 under after a 68. Sean Crocker of the U.S. is tied for fourth, four shots off Meronk’s lead.

Autos: Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton set a track record at the Bahrain Grand Prix on his way to a record-extending 98th career pole position. The seven-time F1 champion set a time of 1 minute, 27.264 seconds. Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas was second and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen third.
