Turkey meals slated for Christmas Eve Seeking knitters, crocheters, quilters

ALBANY — Colonie Senior Service Centers and Mazzone Catering will deliver a hot turkey dinner on Christmas Eve to older adults who are in need of a holiday meal or do not feel like cooking.

The cost is $13 a meal. To order, call 518-459-2857, ext. 327.

SARATOGA SPRINGS — The Saratoga Peace Pod has been formed and is comprised of caring knitters, crocheters and quilters.

Members support the mission of Knitting4p­eace, which was founded in 2006 and has delivered handmade items to more than 184,649 people living in communitie­s across the United States and 82 countries. It is comprised of thousands of knitters, crocheters, quilters and supporters who create hats, scarves, mittens, booties, baby blankets, baby bibs, afghans, quilted sleeping mats, Peace Pal dolls, shawls and washcloths and deliver

them to families in areas of conflict.

The Saratoga Peace Pod plans to have its first collection of knitted, crocheted and quilted items ready for shipment to the Knitting4p­eace headquarte­rs in Denver, Colo. by mid-january.
