Manhattan edges Niagara in MAAC clash; Fairfield wins

Warren Williams recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds to carry Manhattan to a 58-55 win over visiting Niagara in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s basketball clash on Saturday.

Elijah Buchanan had 14 points for Manhattan (5-4, 4-4). Anthony Nelson added 12 points. Samba Diallo had 10 rebounds.

Raheem Solomon had 13 points for the Purple Eagles

(5-7, 4-6). Hammond added 10 points and six rebounds.

Fairfield 55, Marist 52: Taj Benning recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds to lift Fairfield to a win over Marist. Jake Wojcik had 12 points for Fairfield.

Monmouth 70, Quinnipiac 63: George Papas scored 13 points and Monmouth topped Quinnipiac.

America East men

Umass Lowell 92, Binghamton 78: Obadiah Noel had 26 points as Umass Lowell defeated Binghamton. Noel shot 12-for-14 from the foul line.

Hartford 70, UMBC 63:

Austin Williams had 16 points and 13 rebounds to carry Hartford to a win over UMBC. Traci Carter had 16 points, six assists and five steals for Hartford.

New Hampshire 81, Stony Brook 64: Qon Murphy had a career-high 24 points as New Hampshire defeated Stony Brook. Jayden Martinez had 16 points and 10 rebounds for New Hampshire.

Vermont 65, Maine 30: Ryan Davis scored 15 points, Vermont held Maine to a season-low score in a win. Stef Smith added 14 points for Vermont.

MAAC women

Rider 65, St. Peter’s 62: Rider outscored St. Peter’s 22-9 in the final quarter to rally for the victory in Lawrence Township, N.J. Raphaela Toussaint had 19 points and 11 rebounds and Victoria Toomey added 18 points and 12 boards for Rider.

Fairfield 61, Marist 58: Lou Lopezsenec­hal’s two-point bucket with only two seconds left in regulation snapped a 58-58 deadlock and Andrea Hernangome­z made a steal and a foul shot to give Fairfield the win over Marist. Lopez-senechal finished with 16 points.

America East women

Umass Lowell 59, Binghamton 49: Umass Lowell picked up its eighth win of the season, topping visiting Binghamton. Denise Solis scored a team-best 16 points and Tiahna Sears had 10 points and seven rebounds to lead the River Hawks.

New Hampshire 52, Stony Brook 49: Amanda Torres hit a jumper with just 13 seconds remaining to turn a one-point deficit into a New Hampshire victory over Stony Brook. Torres finished with a team-high 15 points and Ivy Gogolin had 12 points for the host Wildcats.
