SEFCU credit union recently concluded its second “No Neighbor Hungry” campaign in partnershi­p with NEWS10ABC. The campaign, which ran for the month of December, raised $347,300 to help 30 local food pantries and shelters stock their shelves for Capital Region neighbors in need. SEFCU committed to matching up to $200,000 raised by the community. At the end of the campaign, the community raised $167,300. As promised, SEFCU matched that figure and then some, donating another $180,000.

The Jewish Federation of Northeaste­rn New York will allocate $216,000 to provide local residents with support during the pandemic. Jewish Family Services will use the funds to support programs from financial assistance to counseling to occupation­al therapy. Shalom Food Pantry will provide food and meals to those unable to leave their homes.

Funds will help Delmar Chabad provide loans to those in need. Hebrew Academy of the Capital District and Maimonides Hebrew Day School will use funds to enhance remote learning and in-person safety for students. The Albany and Schenectad­y Jewish Community Centers will provide additional remote activities and safe in-person programs. Daughters of Sarah Senior Community will have access to more PPE and COVID testing for its residents. Jewish Federation partially funded the ongoing home delivered meals program in partnershi­p with Jewish Family Services with its share of the funds.

The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor said last week that 13 non-profit organizati­ons and municipali­ties will receive Erie Canalway IMPACT! Grants in 2021 totaling $108,787. They include the city of Amsterdam: $11,757 to institute creative, place-based visitor enhancemen­ts at Riverlink Park and Mohawk Valley Gateway Overlook.
