-

RENSSELAER —Itiswith great sadness that the family of Dawn Marie (Romano) Allert announces her passing after a courageous battle with COVID-19, on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at the age of 70 years.

Dawn was born in Albany, the daughter of the late Agostino and the late Frances (Rogers) Romano. She graduated from Van Rensselaer High School in 1968 and attended Maria College in the 1990s. She was an office coordinator for N.Y.S. Defenders Association for over 25 years.

Dawn was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a kind soul and was always there when she was called on. She ensured she was there for every competition, game, play, and every other event her husband, children and then grandchildren were a part of. She had unconditional love for her family. Her husband, children, and grandchildren always knew how much they were loved. In her eyes, they could do no wrong.

Dawn loved that she was able to travel all over with her family and make wonderful memories that will last forever. She even made it her goal to go on every roller-coaster in Disney World and succeeded in reaching that goal in 2019. She had that youthful, crazy attitude that always brought a smile to your face. Someone said, "If Dawn was in the room and you weren’t laughing, you weren’t listening," and that could not be truer.

Dawn was predeceased by her sister Theresa Brooking; mother-in law Gertrude Allert; and sisters-in-law, Helga (Bill) Lieberman and Karin (Cliff) Carrow. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Lothar Allert; daughter, Vanessa (Gerald Jr.) Kallner; son Anthony (Rikki) Allert; brothers and sisters, Michael (Penny) Romano, Frances (Tim) Nolan, Charlie Romano, and June (Steve Calacone) Herrington; and brothers and sisters-in-law, William Brooking Sr., Pete (Sue) Buege, Ursula (Charlie) Zeilman, and Jutta (George) Forkel. Dawn was also the proud grandmother of

Marcus Allert, Mattea Kallner, Jasmine Allert, and Shaylee Kallner. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to attend her calling hours from 4 - 7 p.m. with a funeral to follow on Tuesday January 26, in the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home Inc., 165 Columbia Tpke., Rensselaer. COVID-19 protocols will be followed, and masks are mandatory. For those who wish they may attend her services virtually via Zoom: https://us02web. zoom.us/j/81610191686

Dawn’s family asks that in her honor please, stay safe and wear a mask!
