Arsenault, Neil J. Sr.

WEST SAND LAKE — Neil J. Arsenault, Sr. 90, son of the late Neil and Emily (Labelle) Arsenault, passed away January 21, 2021, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. After graduating from Watervliet High School he entered the United States Air Force where he worked as a mechanic. Upon returning he was employed by New York Telephone Co. for 35 years.

Neil was known for his love of music and learning new things. He taught himself how to do home repairs as well as how to play the organ, harmonica and accordion, often playing for the family, especially at Christmas time. Neil also had a passion and aptitude for using and repairing computers not only for himself but his family and parish priests. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Assistance Team at Sacred Heart

Church and would often set up for morning Mass.

Neil’s family was the center of his life and he was married to his sweetheart Teresa for 62 “glorious” years. Neil was a loyal caregiver to his wife, parents and brother and always willing to help whenever anyone called.

He is survived by his six children, Neil (Keiko) Arsenault, Jr. of West Sand Lake, Ned (Susan) Arsenault of San Jose, Calif., David (Sue Koehler) Arsenault of Gloucester, Mass., Lisa

(Bill) Herman of Mechanicville, Beth (David) Barlow of Chesterfield, Va., and Mary Ruth (Gus) Barranca of Castleton; ten grandchildren, Gabriel, Brittany, Alex, Sarah, Adam, Jennifer, Katie, Alyssa, Nick and Pete; one greatgrandchild, Kieran; brothers, Ronny and Allan; and a sister, Carol; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Teresa; sister Mary; and brother Raymond.

We want to thank the nurses, aides and staff at Van Rensselaer Manor for the amazing care and love, as they took our place during COVID, especially Jen Eacho and Nicole Danaher. We also want to thank the wonderful Dr. Kaczor and the nurses on the 4th floor COVID unit at St. Peters for their great care, kindness and compassion, as well as connecting our family with him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 310 Spring Avenue, Troy, for family and close friends.
