Mays throws for two scores

H. Falls-tamarac QB leads team to victory in opener

Greg Mays threw for two touchdowns and Josh Colegrove rushed for two scores as Hoosick Fallstamar­ac thumped Ichabod Crane 33-0 in a season-opening win.

Colegrove scored from 5 yards out to give his team a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Hoosick Fallstamar­ac extended the lead on Bryan Mackey’s 15-yard touchdown run later in the first quarter. Mays hooked up with James Blake on a 7-yard score to give Hoosick Falls-tamarac a 20-0 lead in the second quarter. He added a 46-yard strike to Tom Chalewa later in the half.

Mays was 7-for-10 for 102 yards. Peyton Nealone did not score, but piled up 99 rushing yards on 10 carries to lead the ground attack for Hoosick Fallstamar­ac.

More football: Dan Quinn threw two touchdowns as Niskayuna beat Mohonasen 14-0 in a Class A opener . ... Nino Robinson passed for a touchdown and rushed for another and Chris Davis added two rushing touchdowns as Schenectad­y crushed Colonie 38-0 at home.

Boys’ soccer: Kiran Sood scored twice to lead Bethlehem to a 2-1 win over Ballston Spa. Sood scored from 25 yards out late in the first half. Amir Abdellatif scored minutes later to tie the game, but Sood scored the eventual winner early in the second half . .... Connor Raven scored from inside the box in the second half to propel Scotia to a 2-1 win over Glens Falls. Kofi Jack scored an unassisted goal from just outside the box to give the Tartans the lead early. Ian Collins tied the game late in the first half when he finished off a long pass from Landon Baglio. Zach Place made one save to earn the win. Ayden Grieve made eight stops for the Indians.

Girls’ soccer: Holy Names topped Ichabod Crane 5-2 behind Marissa Demartino, who had a hat trick. Riley Taylor added two goals and Sophia Pantoja made six saves in the win. Abigail Dolge scored two goals for the Riders . ... Queensbury improved to 2-0 on the season by beating Gloversvil­le 3-0. The Spartans got goals from Samantha Snyder (4th minute), Kylie Potter (20th minute) and Brigid Duffy (53rd minute). Emma Lemery made two saves for the shutout . ... Hailey Breen and Callie Wright scored to lead South Glens Falls over Amsterdam 2-0 in Foothills Council action.
