Rush to judge Cuomo not how justice works

-

I have been following the recent onslaught of criticism/ charges against Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

I'll begin by saying I am not a fan of his. At his news conferences, he comes across as selfcentered, petulant and dictatorial. Watch him once, there is little desire to see him at a news conference again.

Recently, there has been a flurry of local and national news about his nursing home COVID -19 cover-ups, his mistreatment of women and the possible bridge constructiongate scandal. Suddenly, there is an uproar demanding that he either resign or face impeachment. Even many elected state officials of his own party are jumping on the bandwagon.

Perhaps he is guilty as charged, but I thought a pillar of American democracy is that the accused is innocent until proven guilty. How is this rush to judgment any different than former President Donald Trump's claims the 2020 election was stolen from him?

Many condemned Trump because he had no proof and judges rejected the dozens of times he attempted to have the courts side with him. Yet, many of these same people now are guilty of repeating the same tactics in an attempt to remove our governor without knowing the facts or having a legitimate inquiry or trial.

Maybe Cuomo is guilty but shame on all of those who assume he is guilty. He was elected and now attempts are being made to disenfranchise the voters who made that choice. There is always the American Way: the next election.
