— Attorney Wayne Milburn Davis died peacefully on March 21,

2021, just days after his 94th birthday, at Hudson Park Rehabilita­tion Center in Albany.

Wayne was born and raised in West Winfield, N.Y., in 1927; the son of Milburn and Geneva (Ellis) Davis. He was the eldest of five, all of whom had predecease­d.

Wayne was a veteran of World War II, serving in Alaska. After his time in the service, Wayne attended Union College, graduating in 1951. He then attended Albany Law School, graduating and being admitted to the bar in 1957. He was a member of the New York and American Bar Associatio­n.

Wayne married Nancy Campbell Jopp and they had three children: Kenneth William of Massachuse­tts, Linda Ruth of Albany, N.Y., and Gwyneth of Kittery, Maine.

Wayne was employed by the New York State Bar Associatio­n. He then served for many years as Assistant Attorney General under General Louis Lefkowitz. Thereafter, Wayne remained a passionate and dedicated attorney in his private practice in Albany until his retirement at the age of 84. He was also a Professor of Law at Russell Sage College in Troy, New York; President of the Union College Alumni Associatio­n; the Laymen’s League of the Unitarian Church and an active member of the Associatio­n of the Blind. He was active politicall­y and ran for office under the GOP ticket.

Wayne was proud of his many interests and pursuits. He was a voracious, lifelong reader and learner. He loved flying and served as a major in the Civil Air Corps, flying many search flights over the Catskill and Adirondack Mountains. He was a private pilot and owned his own small plane, enabling him to take adventures, many of which were to New Hampshire to visit his children. Wayne also loved sailing and had his own boats, which he kept at The Saratoga Yacht Club, where he was a member.

Wayne leaves behind his three children. His feisty personalit­y, amazing intellect and kind heart will be greatly missed.

Wayne donated his remains to the Anatomical Gift Program at Albany Medical College through Hans Funeral Home. A service is as of yet unplanned.
