A man and woman were found dead Saturday morning in a Boght Road home, one of them with what appeared to be self-inflicted gunshot wounds, town police said.
Shortly after 7 a.m. police were dispatched to check the welfare of the residents at 520 Boght Road. A family member hadn’t heard from either of the two for days and asked for police help in contacting them, police Lt. Daniel Belles said.
Upon checking the residence, two victims were found inside the home dead from gunshot wounds, one of which appeared to be self-inflicted. Both victims were in their 50s, and lived at the residence.
Police declined to say who died of the self-inflicted gunshot. There were no other residents located or living in the house, Belles said.
Police are actively investigating the incident, “but at this time it appears to be an isolated incident, there are no suspects being sought, and there is no known threat to the general public.”
Long guns were recovered at the scene, police said.
Saturday evening a Colonie police SUV was parked in the driveway of the single story brick home. Two other vehicles were parked in the driveway of the neatly kept home.
Police did not immediately identify the victims or say whether anyone else was in the home at the time. Next of kin have yet to be notified.
They said they expect to provide more details once autopsies are completed Sunday at Ellis Hospital.
