Queensbury rallies to win

Two second-half goals lift Spartans past Glens Falls

Queensbury scored two goals in the second half to rally for a 2-1 win over Glens Falls in boys’ soccer ac tion.

Jack Motsiff scored in the first half to give Glens Falls the lead at halftime, but Sam Rowley tied the game in the 59th minute on a through ball from Max Roca. The duo hooked up on the game winner, this time with Roca scoring off a cross from Rowley in the 73rd minute.

The Spartans outshot the Indians 16-5 and held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

More boys’ soccer: Connor Raven scored two goals in the first half and Sam Storti and Kofi Jack added a goal and an assist apiece as Scotia blasted Amsterdam 6-0. Zach Place made two saves for the Tartans. ... Schuylervi­lle avenged an earlier loss in the season to South Glens Falls by topping the Bulldogs 3-1 behind a solid defensive effort, allowing only four shots on goal by South High. Balasai Witt, Cam Wian and Reid Rockhill scored for the Black Horses. Caden French had the Bulldogs’ tally.

Girls’ soccer: Phoebe Thompson scored two goals and assisted on another as Hoosick Falls pulled away in the second half for a 5-0 win over Saratoga Catholic. Olivia Estes made two saves for the Panthers . ... Christina Cummings scored a goal and Emma Lemery made one save as Queensbury edged Glens Falls in a Foothills Council game.

Girls’ volleyball: Galway topped Niskayuna 25-14,

25-18, 25-12 in a nonleague match to give Michael Glenn his 195th coaching victory. Galway (7-0) was led by Amber Kolpakas, who had 16 kills, an ace and two blocks. Cat Schiavi had 17 kills and four digs for Niskayuna (8-2) . ... Carlie Rzeszotars­ki had 15 kills to lead Burnt Hills to a 25-13, 25-14, 25-16 win over Shenendeho­wa in nonleague action. Rzeszotars­ki has 998 kills as a varsity player. The Spartans improve to 11-0 overall. Rose Talty had eight kills and seven digs for the Lady Plainsmen (11-2).
