Guerrero helps Jays rally past O’s

Toronto slugger’s go-ahead double ends 5-game skid

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his major-league leading 23rd homer and later capped Toronto’s ninthinnin­g rally with a goahead, two-run double, and the Blue Jays ended a five-game skid with a 10-7 victory Saturday over the Baltimore Orioles.

Marcus Semien homered twice for Toronto, which scored six runs in the ninth off relievers Paul Fry and Tyler Wells to stun the Orioles.

Ryan Mountcastl­e recorded his first career three-homer game and Cedric Mullins had his second consecutiv­e multihomer game for Baltimore, which hit six homers in a game for the first time since doing so against Houston on Aug. 18, 2016.

Toronto starter Alek Manoah was ejected for hitting Maikel Franco after surrenderi­ng backto-back blasts in the fourth inning and instigatin­g a benches-clearing incident in which no punches were thrown.

Marlins 11, Cubs 1: Adam Duvall homered twice for the second straight game, Pablo Lopez pitched one-hit ball over seven innings and Miami pounded Chicago. The Marlins have outscored the NL Central leaders 21-3 through the first two games and put themselves in position to sweep their first series since winning both wildcard games against Chicago last fall.

Pirates 6, Indians 3: Michael Perez and Bryan Reynolds hit three-run home runs during the seventh inning and Pittsburgh rallied for a victory over Cleveland.

Phillies 13, Giants 6: Rhys Hoskins broke out of a 2-for-40 slump with a pair of home runs and a career-best six RBIS, leading Philadelph­ia over San Francisco. Ronald Torreyes also homered and drove in three runs as the Phillies won at San Francisco for the second time in nine games since 2018.

Twins 3, Rangers 2: Max Kepler scored the go-ahead run on a second consecutiv­e wild pitch from Texas reliever John King in the seventh inning, and Minnesota beat the Rangers. Former Texas slugger Nelson Cruz hit a tying two-run homer in the fourth, his team-leading 15th for Minnesota and the 432nd of his career to pass Cal Ripken Jr. for 49th place.

Notes: The St. Louis Cardinals’ game at the Atlanta Braves on Saturday was postponed because of rain. The game will be made up as part of a day-night doublehead­er Sunday at 2:10 p.m. and 7:08 p.m . ... Reliever Jacob Barnes was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays from the New York Mets for pitching prospect Troy Miller.
