‘Kelly Clarkson Show’ to take over ‘Ellen’ slot in 2022

impression on TV audiences right from the start.

“The Kelly Clarkson Show” is only in its second season (it launched in fall 2019), but it has already won three Daytime Emmys, including Clarkson’s win as Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host.

It was renewed in December for two more seasons, taking it through 2023, though the latest announcement suggests that NBC has some long-term plans for the show and its host.

From Ellen to Kelly: After a long reign as daytime television’s top talk show host — and a year marred by toxic workplace allegations and declining ratings — Ellen Degeneres announced on May 12 that the 19th season of “The Ellen Degeneres Show” will be its last.

Degeneres, whose namesake show debuted in 2003, signed a deal in 2019 that extended the show’s run through 2022, and that’s when the show is set to bow out.

In the meantime, there’s been plenty of speculation about other celebrities who could potentially take a stab at helming their own daytime talk show, but NBC has already moved quickly to ensure Degeneres’ departure won’t leave a big hole in their affiliates’ daytime lineups.

NBC announced that “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” which is produced by Nbcuniversal’s syndication division, will be taking over Ellen’s time-slot in fall 2022.

It’s a win-win situation for both: Clarkson is set to take over a marquee time-slot, and NBC gets to fill that time-slot with an Nbc-owned show (“The Ellen Degeneres Show” is a Warner Bros. production).

Is the OG “American Idol” winner poised to be the next Ellen? For now, it kind of looks that way (cue Clarkson’s debut single, “A Moment Like This”).the Grammywinning artist certainly made a big Kelly Clarkson, seen here, to take over “The Ellen Degeneres Show’s” timeslot by 2022

‘Big’ news: Will he or won’t he? Ever since HBO Max’s “Sex and the City” reboot was announced, fans have been wondering if Mr. Big, played by actor Chris Noth (“Law & Order”), would be making an appearance.

It’s been teased, talked about and dismissed, but Deadline broke the news that Noth is officially onboard and will be reprising his iconic role in “And Just Like That…”

“I’m thrilled to be working with Chris again on ‘And

Just Like

That…,’” executive producer Michael Patrick King said. “How could we ever do a new chapter of the Sex and the City story without our Mr. Big?”

Indeed, it would be tough to imagine any “Sex and the City”related storylines without Mr. Big, whose on-again/off-again affair with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker, “Footloose,” 1984) fueled many storylines throughout the series’ original run and through two movies, “Sex and the City” (2008) and “Sex and the City 2” (2010).

More than 10 years have passed since Mr. Big’s diamondtopped gesture of appreciation at the end of the second movie. So, after all this time, are Carrie and Mr. Big still together? We’ll soon find out.

However, it’s worth noting that John Corbett (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” 2002), who played Carrie’s furniture-maker ex, Aidan Shaw, stated in an interview that he will be appearing in “quite a few episodes.” David Eigenberg (“Chicago Fire”) also teased the possibility of reprising his role as Steve Brady, Miranda’s (Cynthia Nixon,“jameswhite,”2015) affable husband, but like Corbett, news of Eigenberg’s possible involvement came from the actor, not HBO Max. For now, the 10-episode series remains focused on the friendship between Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte (Kristin Davis, “Holiday in the Wild,” 2019), and how they’re adapting to the reality of life in their 50s.

Production will begin this summer in New York City.

‘Droughtlander’ update: “Outlander” fans have been thirsty for new episodes ever since the Season 5 finale aired last May. And while they’re used to a long wait between seasons, the wait for Season 6 has been extra long (hence the term “Droughtlander”) due to pandemic-related delays.

But rest assured, the drought will end — you just have to ride it out until early 2022.

Starz recently announced that Claire (Caitriona Balfe, “Ford v Ferrari,” 2019) and Jamie (Sam Heughan, “Island at War”), along with Brianna (Sophie Skelton, “211,” 2018) and Roger (Richard Rankin, “Thirteen”), will return with new adventures in 2022.

Fans might not be too thrilled with the idea of a shortened Season 6, which will consist of eight episodes instead of the usual 12; on the bright side, the season premiere will be an extended 90-minute episode. And Season 7, which is scheduled to begin filming in 2022, will be bumped up from 12 to 16 episodes, so fans aren’t being shortchanged.

“We are excited to get into the editing room to work on bringing the fans one step closer to reuniting with the family back on Fraser’s Ridge,” showrunner Matthew B. Roberts said. “Filming in 2021 has presented an unprecedented set of challenges which led us to the decision to truncate the season in order to bring the fans the most vibrant and dynamic season as soon as possible. Dinna fash, we will then film an extended season seven with 16 episodes next year as life returns to normalcy.”
