Flint, Hilda A. Yerden

POESTENKIL­L — Hilda A. Yerden Flint, 98, a longtime resident of Plank Road, died on Friday, July 9, 2021, at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

Born on June 19,1923, in Troy, she was daughter of the late Darwin and Nettie White Yerden, and sister of the late Mildred I. Catlin and Kenneth E. Yerden. Hilda was married to the late Wallace E. Flint for 63 years.

Hilda grew up on a small family farm in Poestenkil­l and was educated in a one room school before graduating from Troy High School in 1942. Post-graduation, she worked at Montgomery

Ward processing mail orders and at Cluett Peabody attaching shirt cuffs.

She married her husband, Wallace, on August 20,

1946, upon his return from WWII service in the Army Air Corp.

Mrs. Flint stopped working at Cluett Peabody after the birth of her first daughter to become a homemaker, loving mother and grandmothe­r.

She used her skills in handicraft­s, baking, and gardening to serve and spread God’s love to her community, friends and loved ones.

Mrs. Flint was an active member of the First Baptist Church of East Poestenkil­l where she taught Sunday School for 56 years and was president of the Women’s Missionary Society for 67 years. Hilda and Wallace volunteere­d at Evergreen Commons leading monthly church services for over 30 years. She was a member of the Upstate Chapter of Myasthenia Gravis Foundation and the Poestenkil­l Senior Citizens.

Survivors include her daughters, Wanda (Joseph) Sharp of Poestenkil­l and Cheryl A. (Lloyd Fox) Flint of Averill Park; and her granddaugh­ter Lydia A. Sharp.

The family wishes to thank the staff on A3 at the Van Rensselaer Manor nursing home who took compassion­ate care of Hilda for the past two years.

Hilda’s love of her Savior, Jesus, was evident throughout all aspects of her life, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing her felt the kindness that was shown from within.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, at the Perry-komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call 4 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, at the funeral Chapel.
