Roensch, Jessie L. Bowers

SCOTIA — Jessie L. Bowers Roensch, 100, formerly of Scotia, passed away at Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home in Clifton Park where she had been a resident.

Born on February 2, 1921, in Schenectad­y, she was the daughter and oldest child of the late William and Bertha Heinz Bowers. Jessie was raised and educated in Schenectad­y; a 1939 graduate of Nott Terrace High School. She went on to graduate from Albany Business College in 1940 and later attended Valpariso University in Indiana. She was consecrate­d as a Deaconess in 1944 in the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod.

Jessie married the late Arthur Roensch in September of 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Schenectad­y and together they moved to New Milford, N.J. Jessie worked as a secretary to the president of the New York Synod, LCA from 1961 until 1980 in New York City.

Jessie was very active with Lutheran Community throughout her life. She served as an organist for various Lutheran churches, she was active with Bible Study, the Bell Choir. Jessie was a homemaker, loved music and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and took a 21-day tour of the Holy Land in 1966.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Artie, who died in 1980, she was also predecease­d by her two brothers, William and John Bowers. Survivors include several nieces and nephews including, David Bowers of Fla., Carol Bowers Hersh of S.C., Amy Bowers Danckert of Altamont, Katie Bowers Campbell and Susie Bowers both of Wis., and Walter and Artie Roensch both of N.J.

The family would like to extend their deep appreciati­on for the consistent­ly thoughtful, helpful and loving care provided by the Schuyler Ridge Nursing staff and the Hospice team.

Graveside services will be held in Zion Lutheran Cemetery at the convenienc­e of the family.
