Scully, Robert G. "Jerry"
PLATTSBURGH — Robert G. "Jerry" Scully, 78 of Olivetti Place, Plattsburgh, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021, at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.
He was born in Troy on
May 19, 1943. He was the son of Robert F. and
Margaret (Hayes) Scully. Robert graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy. He then served his country in the United States Air Force. After being honorably discharged, he joined the United States Army Reserves serving his country for 22 years, retiring as a first sergeant. Robert worked for New York Telephone Company in Albany, and was transferred to
Plattsburgh in 1979. Robert retired as an installation and repair foreman. After retiring, he began working for the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department as a corrections officer until finally retiring permanently. Robert was a member of the Moose Lodge and Knights of Columbus in Plattsburgh.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley (Richards) Scully. They were married in Ilion, N.Y., on May 20, 1967. He is survived by two children: Kerry Halstead and her husband John of Waco, Texas, and David Scully of Plattsburgh; a grandson Jaiden Scully and a granddaughter Irelynn Scully; three stepgrandchildren: Justin, Jade and Justice Kelton; his siblings: Kathy Difabio and her husband Joe of Troy, Paul "Pete" Scully and his wife Leslie and Margie Scully and her husband William Crucetti of Watervliet. Several nieces and nephews also survive him. He was predeceased by his parents and a stepgrandson, Jordan Kelton.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 14, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh.
