SCHOLARSHI­PS

Sara Thaqi, Cohoes, was named a Rensselaer Medal Winner. The merit scholarshi­p carries a value of $30,000 a year for four years. She is a junior at Cohoes High School.

Emmalee Stark, Hudson Falls and Asa Dupras, Saratoga Springs have been awarded the Schuylervi­lle Community Theater awards. Each will receive $500 toward their college education as they pursue theater arts.

REV. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. SCHOLARSHI­PS

The MLK scholarshi­p was establishe­d in 1973 by the Capital Area Council of Churches to honor the memory of the life and work of the slain civil rights leader and to preserve the legacy of the nonviolent human rights movement. This year, each student will receive a $4,000 scholarshi­p. Jaxon Haigh of Hudson, an EMT student at Questar III’S Columbia-greene Educationa­l Center, earned first place in Cpr/first Aid in the national Skillsusa Championsh­ip competitio­n, the first Questar III student to do so.
