COHOES — John W. "Jack" Donlon, 89, entered into eternal rest gracefully on Wednesday, July 21,

2021, surrounded by his loving and caring family.

John was born on March

29, 1932, in Cohoes and was the son of the late William B. and Helen (Morrison) Donlon. He was born and raised in Cohoes, moving to Troy where he raised his family, then moving back to Cohoes after his wife’s passing.

John was in the New York National Guard as a second cook for 10 years. Later on in life he was employed with SUNY Research Foundation as a staff assistant for 28 years. After his retirement, John and his wife Joan traveled to Scotland, Hawaii, England, France with yearly trips to Florida. John was a past member of AOH Division 8, Troy Elks Club and Troy Emerald Club. He played Santa Claus at AOH and Elks Club for many years. He was a dedicated golfer seven days a week and was a member of Van Schaick Country Club for 45 years. John was lucky to be able to play golf in many places such as St. Andrews in Scotland and Lahintch in Ireland.

John is now at peace with his late loving wife, Joan T. (Fredette) Donlon. John is survived by his three loving children, John G. (Diane) Donlon, Kimberly M.

Glasser and Colleen L. (George) Bull; nine grandchild­ren and 14 greatgrand­children; loving sisters, Maureen (the late Al) Hunter, Shirley (the late Alfie) Bisette, Nancy (Russell D’amico and Sheila (Walter) Williams; brother, William (Karen) Donlon; sister-inlaw, Francis (John) Renas; and many nieces nephews and friends. He was predecease­d by his brothers, Francis, Robert and James; and sister, Patricia.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectad­y Rd., Watervliet on Monday, July 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 27,

in the funeral

Tuesday, July 27, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
