ALBANY — Helen S. (Prokrym) Murawski passed peacefully from this life on July 23, 2021, at the age of 88, at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy and under the care of the Community Hospice.

A long-time Albany resident, Helen had recently been a resident at the Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center in Cohoes.

Born in Watervliet, Helen was the daughter of the late Jan and Zofija (Szymanska) Prokorym. She was raised and educated in Watervliet at Sacred Heart of Mary Grammar School and Watervliet High School. While in Watervliet, she attended the former Sacred Heart of Mary Church. Primarily a homemaker who dedicated her life to her family, Helen also worked as a cook, for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet at the former St. James Convent of Albany for 18 years. Helen and her husband Bill timed their retirement­s so that they could together enjoy traveling and visiting their son, Paul, at the various locations he resided over the years. In her earlier years, Helen enjoyed family trips to Hampton Beach,

New Hampshire and also to Cape Cod. Helen enjoyed the outdoors, flowers, cooking, walking, polka dancing and listening to Polish music, on Sunday mornings, on radio station 88.3 the Saint from Siena College. Her loving feline companion was Zander and of all the things that Helen enjoyed, it was her family, especially her grandchild­ren that she loved the most and that filled her heart with pride.

Gelen was a long-time communican­t of the former St. Casimir Church in Albany where she was an active member. She was also a member of the Polish-american Community Center, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Joseph E. Zaloga Post #1520 of the American Legion and the Ladies Guild of the former St. Casimir’s Church.

A special thank you is offered to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center in Cohoes for the care given to Helen during her stay.

Helen was the beloved wife of the late William C. Murawski, to whom she was married at the former Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet and with whom she shared 50 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2008; loving passing in 2008; loving mother of William T. (Heather) Murawski, Paul F. Murawski and Jean (Phil) Famiano; cherished grandmothe­r of Sarah Elizabeth, Lauren Olivia, Daria and Ryan; sister of the late John (late Evelyn) Prokorym,

Laura) Prokrym, Frank Prokrym and Jeannie Prokrym; aunt of the late Kristie Johnson Prokrym. Helen is also survived by several additional nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, Latham. Interment will follow in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylervi­lle, at 12 p.m.. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Helen’s family on Tuesday, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
