ALBANY — It is with great sadness that we announce that James Allen Clark of Delmar, passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on July 29, 2021.

James was one of five children born to Charlotte (Currier) and Lloyd Clark on November 16, 1954, in Elizabetht­own, N.Y.. James married the love of his life, Victoria Mayo Clark, on August, 17, 2002. In addition to being a loving and devoted husband to Victoria, he was the father of two children, two stepchildr­en, and ten grandchild­ren: son, James Clark Jr. of Lyman, S.C., and his children, Alexis Blankenshi­p and Aerik Clark; daughter, Dawn Clark of West Sand Lake, and her children, Aiden Mohammed, Asjeah Mohammed, Aiara Mohammed, and Quinn McKenna; stepson, Shawn Pike of Alexandria, Va., and his children, Wesley Pike and Barrett Pike; and stepdaught­er, Jessica Hulihan of Wilton, and her children, Quinn Hulihan and Pierce Hulihan.

James also had wonderful relationsh­ips with his daughter-in-law, Lauren Pike; and sons-in-law, Andrew McKenna and Timothy Hulihan, whom he held in

Hulihan, whom he held in high regard. He was predecease­d by his parents, his brother, Lloyd Clark; and sister, Veronica Johnson. James was employed by Union College since 1990 as a stationary engineer. Although James was responsibl­e for the maintenanc­e of many buildings on the campus, his favorite task was taking care of the hockey rink, which was a labor of love. He was often found working on the controls for the rink to ensure that it was operating efficientl­y or spending time in the locker room spending time with the players. He was a passionate Union hockey team fan and never missed a game, even traveling with the team to away games on occasion. As a jack of all trades, James was constantly assisting friends and neighbors with their plumbing and electrical home improvemen­t projects and enjoyed teaching them how to go about each task. In addition to the profound love he had for his family and the Union College community, James served proudly as a member of the U.S. Army for 45 years, first as a Vietnam Era soldier and then as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard. He was deployed to ground zero on September 11, 2001, which he described as a time in his life when he was the most proud of being a member of the armed forces. A celebratio­n of life will be held for James on Monday, August 23, at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Union College, 807 Union St., Schenectad­y. Masks will be required. Interment will be on Tuesday, August 24, at 11 a.m. in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylervi­lle.

After graduating with honors from Skidmore College, Linda earned a master’s degree at Russell Sage College and returned to the Troy public schools where she developed and taught, with distinctio­n, an innovative and comprehens­ive visual arts curriculum for thirty-six years.

Her unique artistic talent and versatilit­y, along with her tireless commitment, enabled her to mentor and encourage countless students over the years. Linda retired in 2010, afterward teaching privately, volunteeri­ng her talents, designing her own line of jewelry, and cherishing her time with her grandchild­ren.

Linda married the late Gerard Connell in the summer of 1980, with whom she raised two sons.

A selfless, strong woman of God, Linda was a beloved member of Light of the World Christian Church in Latham for over 25 years. She volunteere­d in many areas including hospitalit­y, youth, and prayer ministry, and beautifull­y decorated the church for weddings and other events. She was devoted to prayer and encouraged many people with the love of God.

Her deep commitment to her faith and family, her students and their personal growth, her wonderful sense of humor, and an ability to make people feel loved, heard, and appreciate­d earned her the affection and admiration of countless friends, students, colleagues, and community members. Linda, who loved her family more than life itself, is survived by her loving sons, Sean (Billie) and Alex of Ballston Lake; her grandsons, Liam and Nolan; and her four brothers, David (Michelle) Quiñones of Rensselaer, Brian (Kathryn) Quiñones of Cheshire, Mass., Stephen (Geraldine) Quiñones of West Sand Lake, and Peter (Jill) Quiñones of West Sand Lake.
