Andersen of Shoreview, Minn., and Meghan (Tim) Esmay of Albany; his two nephews, Jason Andersen (Megan Merkes), and Timothy Esmay; his one niece, Grace Esmay; his uncles, Randy (Mary Teresa) and Scott O’Neil; his aunt Melissa Macri; and his cousins, Lisa Hendley, Giavanna (Isaac Mall) and Gabriella O’Neil, Dennis O’Neil, Alexandra, Gregory and Whitney Macri.

John graduated from Albany High School and joined the Air Force at 18. John was a kind and gentle soul. He spoiled his nephews and niece with a level of serious fun that only happened when Uncle John came to visit. He surprised the kids with outrageous gifts, for no reason at all. John was incredibly smart, compassionate and funny. He made everyone laugh, and enjoyed a good joke like his dad, Kimball. He loved being with family and friends, he would do anything daring or fun. He enjoyed being near the ocean, sunny days, roller coasters, animals, fishing and Albany’s St. Patrick’s Day parade. John was charismatic and could talk to anyone, about anything. He was a wonderful cook like his mom. Please pray that John has peace and is back in the arms of his loving mom, Maryjoy. Funeral services have not yet been scheduled. He will be laid to rest in Memory Gardens with his family. In lieu of flowers, please reach out to an old friend, or do something good for someone who needs your help. Donations may be made to Sober Souls, a private, sober living ranch that helped and supported John during his toughest days. In memory of John O’Neil. SOBER SOULS, P.O.
