Seguin, Joan A.

COHOES — Joan A. Seguin, 87, died on August 5, 2021, at home after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Cohoes, she was daughter of the late David and Evelyn Sabourin Fontaine. She was a graduate of Cohoes High School, class of 1952 and later attended The College of Saint Rose and Maria College. She retired from the N.Y.S. Department of Taxation and Finance. Joan was also employed at the Pub Laurent in Cohoes, Price Chopper in Latham and Lanthier’s Grove. She served as eucharistic minister at The Church of the Holy Trinity in Cohoes and was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She also belonged to the Cohoes Community Center Ladies Auxiliary, the Cohoes High Alumni Association and the Ya Ya Sisters.

She is survived by her children, Cortland (Diana) Seguin of Fultonville, Mark (Peggy of Cohoes) Seguin of Nassau, Lisa (Barney) Dooley of Grafton, Eric (Diana) Seguin of Berne, Kurtis (Gina) Seguin of Delanson and Renee Seguin of Clifton Park. She was the grandmother of Cortland, Jeremy, Alan, Chad, Eric, Jacob and Jared Seguin, Angela Need, Laura Weir, Rachel Mosher, Emily Brock, Morgan Bariteau and Taylor and Madison Dunn. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren with one on the way; her cousin that she considered her sister, Jean Beaulne; her former husband Cortland Seguin; and her dear friends, Jean Favreau and the Smithrick family and Marion and Rock Guerin.
