— Elizabeth Ann Krasse, 86, died on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Van Rensselaer Manor after stubbornly battling a lengthy illness.

Born in Amityville, N.Y. on September 28, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Wayne Dameron and Mary Sue Borders Dameron and wife of Roy J. Krasse for 64 years. She resided in Bellmore, Long Island and later moved to Troy in 1963. She was a registered nurse graduate of St. Luke’s School of Nursing and earned her bachelor’s degree from Russell Sage College.

Mrs. Krasse was a nurse in obstetrics at the Amityville Hospital operating room and later at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. She also taught obstetrics for 10 years at the Sarics for 10 years at the Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing. One her favorite volunteer activities was rocking babies at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C. where she and her husband resided for 15 years before returning to Troy.

She was an excellent seamstress, talented with a sewing machine as well as a knitting needle. Another of her volunteer activities was making smocked dresses for little girls in rural North Carolina and knitting hats for newborn babies. She loved choral singing, bowling, golf, bridge and the beach and was an ordained deacon of the Brunswick Church. She was the church secretary and office manager both at Brunswick and their church in Wilmington, N.C. She and Roy spent time traveling, in such varied places as Egypt, Scotland, Europe, Thailand and Greece.

Survivors in addition to her husband include three daughters, Amy Elizabeth (Michael) Roarke of Maine, Alison Sue (Daniel) Brinkman of Brunswick and Jennifer Eileen Krasse of Maine; her grandchild­ren, Kerry Bowman, Devin Roarke, Maggie Roarke, Courtney Brinkman, Christophe­r Brinkman and Joseph Brinkman; her greatgrand­children, Duncan, Gavin and Hugh Bowman and Nova Grace Roarke; a sister, Linda Ilse of Connecticu­t; and a nephew, Ryan Ilse. She was also predecease­d by a grandson, Patrick Roarke; and a nephew, Wayne Solotoff.

The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciati­on to the staff at the Van Rensselaer Manor for their excellent care, especially during Elizabeth’s last days.

A celebratio­n of life service will be held in the Brunswick Church, 42 White Church Lane, Troy on September 18, at 11 a.m. A light reception will follow hosted by the deacons of the church.
