Ballston Spa will begin a tree inventory on Tuesday to determine the type and health of the public street and park trees located in the village.

The village received a $26,555 state Urban Community Forestry Grant to conduct a Tree Inventory and Management Plan and has selected Davey Resources Group to conduct it.

The Lake George Board of Education is expected to appoint Doug Huntley as interim superinten­dent Tuesday. He will begin Wednesday and serve in the interim role until a permanent superinten­dent is named.

Albany Public Library is adding service hours on Sunday afternoons at two branches starting this Sunday.

The Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch (148 Henry Johnson Blvd.) and Bach Branch (455 New Scotland Ave.) will be open Sundays 1 to 5 p.m.

The rest of the branches are closed on Sundays.

The New York Racing Associatio­n announced that the Whitney Viewing Stand will remain open this fall for spectators to enjoy morning workouts at the Oklahoma Training Track.

The public will be invited to view training at from 7 to 10 a.m.

The Whitney Viewing Stand will remain open during the same hours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through the conclusion of training for the year in November.

Saratoga County officials said work is continuing on the Ashdown Road Bridge constructi­on project. The delivery of steel has shifted the project closer to its initial timeline. The project is now estimated to be completed by mid-October.
