Albany County Executive Dan McCoy said Saturday a man in his 60s died from COVID-19, bringing the death toll to 437 in the county since the beginning of the pandemic.

It was the fifth day in a row for a death reported in the county.

Also, Friday’s 131 new cases reported represents the fourth straight day with new infections of more than 100.

There are 33,220 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. There were two hospitalizations on Friday, and 27 county residents now hospitalized. Five are in intensive care.

“I continue to stress how important it is that everyone follow CDC recommendations to mask when indoors, stay six feet apart, wash your hands frequently and cough and sneeze into your arm to help prevent the spread,” McCoy said. “We also need more people to get vaccinated and to get their boosters, especially as we start the holiday season. No one wants holiday gatherings to turn into super spreader events.”

School-based vaccination clinics are available next week and will be appointment-only:

Monday: 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Guilderland Elementary School.

Tuesday: 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School.
