BALLSTON SPA — David R. Bullock Sr., 75, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022, after a long illness at Slate Valley Center in Granville, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 24, 1947, in Troy to Charles Bullock and Helen Gallery Bullock. David was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1965. He earned his associate degree from Maria College in 1988 and his bachelor’s degree from Regents College in 1993. David loved his country and proudly served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1973 as a machinist’s mate E6. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Additional­ly, David served in the United States Army National Guard from 1973 to 1976 as a staff sergeant E6.

From 1970 until 1972, he was an officer with Metropolit­an Police of Washington, D.C. David was employed at the Watervliet Arsenal starting as a rotary forge operator and retiring in 1995 as a supervisor­y industrial specialist. He received special commendati­ons from the Department of the Army and the Department of Defense for his work.

David was an avid gun and motorcycle enthusiast. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and served as a firearms instructor. David was a longtime member of the Watervliet Fish and Game Club. He was also a member of the Blue Knights Chapter 8 and the Goldwing Road Riders Associatio­n. In the 1980s, David served on the Cohoes Catholic School Board.

David was the devoted husband of nine years to Christine Zampino Bullock. The joy of his life was his family, especially his grandchild­ren. David always looked forward to spending time with them, specifical­ly cooking with them. David always enjoyed making pizzas and joyed making pizzas and cookies with his little helpers.

In addition to his wife, Christine, David is survived by his three children, David R. Bullock II (Jude Miller) of Grand Island, N.Y., Danielle Guild (Craig) of Cohoes, and Timothy P. Bullock (Charlene Dake Fessia) of Ballston Spa; grandchild­ren Erin, Blake, Jenna, and Noah; siblings, Diana Edwards (Ralph) of Troy, and Charlene Parker (Darryl) of Saratoga Springs; several nieces and nephews; and many friends including his lifelong friend, Edward Kennedy of Bennington, Vt. David was predecease­d by Barbara J. Sweeney Bullock, his loving wife of 37 years.

David’s family would like to thank the wonderful nursing staff at Slate Valley Center for their excellent care and support.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday, May 11, from 4-7 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High St., Ballston Spa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylervi­lle.
