LATHAM — Reverend Alfred O. Siegel was welcomed home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, passing away peacefully at home with his beloved wife and family by his side, at the age of 89.

Al was born and raised in Elizabeth, N.J. where he graduated from Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, N.J. He was a graduate of Gettysburg College in Pennsylvan­ia and then Princeton Theologica­l Seminary in New Jersey. It was at Seminary where he met his true love, soulmate, and his "Sugar Cookie," Lois. They married on June 13, 1959, in Philadelph­ia, Pa.

He devoted his life to his ministry and his calling to the Lord. He started his service with the student summer ministry in Steelville, Mo. and Metlakatla, Alaska. He was then pastor of Cochecton and Hortonvill­e Presbyteri­an churches and retired as pastor of the Loudonvill­e Presbyteri­an Church after 33 years. His ministry continued through interim pastoring at many churches in the Capital District area. His ministry also included part-time chaplin for Stratton VA Hospital in Albany, chaplain at the former Menands Manor (Center Manor) and the former Daylight Program at St. Margaret’s. He was the Protestant chaplain for Teresian House Nursing Home and Avila Retirement Community. In the late 1970s, he did a summer pulpit exchange in Lochgelly, Scotland with his family.

Al had a love for music from a young age, especially the piano. He played for many services and brought his gift of music through singalongs to many nursing homes. He also played his baritone horn in The Colonie Town Band for over 20 years.

In 1995, he was an integral part of the vision and the completion of the Interfaith Prayer Room at The Albany Internatio­nal Airport. He was also an ambassador at the airport for 25 years, and served at the Military Courtesy Room.

He was a devoted husband and beloved father and grandfathe­r. He enjoyed family vacations, traveling all across the United States and spending summers at their lake house.

Al is survived by his wife, Lois M. Siegel; his children, Dwayne A. Siegel, Kevin P. Siegel (Yen), Jeanette A.
