Rodriguez’s goal lifts LAFC
Game-winner in 47th minute is the only goal scored in second half
Brian Rodriguez scored the deciding goal in a 3-2 win for Los Angeles FC over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday.
Rodriguez’s game-winner came in the 47th minute for LAFC (9-3-2) and was the only goal scored in the second half.
LAFC jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Christian Arango’s penalty-kick score in the 8th minute and a goal by Ryan Hollingshead in the 13th.
Jeremy Ebobisse scored two goals for the Earthquakes (36-5) — in the 16th and 31st minutes — to knot the score at 2.
New England 1, Philadelphia 1: Mikael Uhre scored the tying goal for the Philadelphia Union in a draw with the New England Revolution. Uhre scored the equalizer in the 77th minute for Philadelphia (6-1-7). Gustavo Bou scored on a penalty kick to give the Revolution (4-5-4) a 1-0 lead in the 75th minute. The Revolution outshot the Union 17-3 but had only a 3-2 edge in shots on goal. Matt Turner had one save the Revolution. Andre Blake saved two for the Union.
Toronto 3, Chicago 2: Alejandro Pozuelo scored in the 71st and 78th minutes to give Toronto FC a victory over the Chicago Fire. Pozuelo returned after missing three games because of a lower-body injury to help Toronto (4-7-3) snap a six-game winless streak. Deandre Kerr also scored for Toronto. Kacper Przybylko and Carlos Teran scored for Chicago (2-7-5) . The Fire are winless in 10 games.
Columbus 2, Atlanta 1: Erik Hurtado scored the deciding goal in a win for the Columbus Crew. Hurtado scored in the 45th minute, assisted by Derrick Etienne, to put the Crew (4-5-4) up 2-0. The Crew grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first minute on a goal by Jonathan Mensah. Dom Dwyer scored in the first minute of second-half stoppage time for United (4-5-4). Miami 2, Portland 1: Robert Thomas Taylor’s goal helped lead Inter Miami to a victory over the Portland Timbers. Taylor’s game-winning goal came in the 59th minute to put Miami (5-6-3) up 2-0. Miami also got one goal from Leonardo Campana. Bill Tuiloma scored the only goal for the Timbers (3-6-6).
Dallas 3, Orlando 1: Paul Arriola scored two goals to propel FC Dallas to a victory over Orlando City SC. Ercan Kara staked Orlando City (65-3) to a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute of first-half stoppage time. Both of Arriola’s goals for Dallas (7-3-4) came in the second half. Franco Jara picked up an assist on Arriola’s score in the 67th minute that knotted the score. Jesus Ferreira had assists on Jara’s go-ahead goal in the 70th minute and Arriola’s netter in the 84th. Montreal 4, Cincinnati 3: Romell Quioto scored twice in Montreal’s victory over Cincinnati. Mathieu Choiniere and Joel Waterman also scored for Montreal (7-5-2). Junior Moreno scored twice for Cincinnati (6-7-1). Alvaro Barreal also connected.
