Lyons, Ruth E.

ALBANY — Ruth E. Lyons, 95 of Albany, passed away after a short illness on June 30, 2022, at Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Home.

Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence (Moutray) Stewart. Ruth graduated from Cathedral Academy.

Ruth was a loving housewife who took care of the family and supported her husband and his career. They met on a blind date and were happily married for 74 years. She was a wonderful cook and loved to travel.

She called herself the last of the Mohicans because she was the last of her siblings. She was predeceased by three sisters, Marion, Dorothy, and Florence; and her brother, Jack. We know they are all up in heaven together, playing cards and singing. Ruth leaves behind three children, Richard (Susan), Robert (Maureen) and Judith as well as her five grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 5, from 10 - 11 a.m., with a service at 11 a.m., at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will follow in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
