Edwards’ effort leads Syracuse to win

BOSTON — Jesse Edwards scored a career-high 27 points and Syracuse pulled away late to beat Boston College 77-68 on Saturday.

Edwards made 12 of 15 shots from the floor and three of four from the free-throw line for the Orange (14-10, 7-6 Atlantic Coast Conference), who snapped a three-game skid. Edwards added seven rebounds and blocked four shots. Joseph Girard III sank all nine of his free throws and scored 18, adding six rebounds and four assists. Judah Mintz pitched in with 15 points and five assists.

Quinten Post finished with 18 points, five rebounds and four assists to pace the Eagles (11-13, 5-9). Jaeden Zackery had 14 points and five assists before fouling out. Makai Ashton-Langford contribute­d 11 points, six boards, five assists and two blocks.

Indiana 79, Purdue 74: Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 25 points and Jalen Hood-Schifino delivered the clinching basket on a dunk with two seconds left as No. 21 Indiana beat No. 1 Purdue.

Tennessee 46, Auburn 43: JosiahJord­an James scored 15 points to lead No. 2 Tennessee to a win over No. 25 Auburn in a game in which every point was difficult and nothing flowed.

Alabama 79, LSU 69: Noah Clowney and Rylan Griffen led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points each to carry No. 4 Alabama to a victory.

Virginia Tech 74, Virginia 68: Sean Pedulla scored 22 points and Virginia Tech beat No. 6 Virginia, snapping the Cavaliers' seven-game winning streak.

Texas 69, Kansas State 66: Christian Bishop scored all 14 of his points in the second half, including the go-ahead lay-in with 37 seconds to go, and No. 10 Texas rallied from a 14-point first-half deficit to beat No. 7 Kansas State.

Iowa State 68, Kansas 53: Jaren Holmes led No. 13 Iowa State with 15 points in the Cyclones' win over No. 8 Kansas.

Baylor 89, Texas Tech 62:

Jalen Bridges had 18 points with eight rebounds, big man Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua played for the first time since a gruesome knee injury last season and 11th-ranked Baylor beat Texas Tech.

Marquette 60, Butler 52: Tyler Kolek had 13 points and eight assists as No. 14 Marquette defeated Butler for its fifth consecutiv­e victory.

Oklahoma State 79, TCU 73: Kalib Boone scored 25 points and Oklahoma State blew a 19-point second-half lead before recovering to beat depleted No. 15 TCU.

Xavier 96, St. John’s 71: Jack Nunge scored 21 points, Colby Jones added 19 and 16th-ranked Xavier made a seasonhigh 15 3-pointers.

Florida Atlantic 67, Charlotte 52: Vladislav Goldin had 15 points and No. 19 Florida Atlantic earned a victory over Charlotte, just two days after the Owls had their 20-game win streak snapped.

Miami 78, Clemson 74: Nijel Pack scored 20 points and Isaiah Wong 15 as No. 23 Miami used a second-half burst to hold off No. 20 Clemson.

UConn 68, Georgetown 62:

Adama Sanogo and Tristen Newton each scored 15 and Alex Karaban knocked down two late 3-pointers as No. 24 UConn held for a win at last-place Georgetown. Andre Jackson Jr. added seven points, seven assists and 10 rebounds for the Huskies.

Baylor 76, Iowa State 70: Sarah Andrews scored 21 points and No. 11

Baylor rallied from a point down entering the fourth quarter.

Gonzaga 78, San Francisco 56: Kaylynne Truong had seven 3-pointers and 27 points, both career highs, and No. 17 Gonzaga rolled to a win over San Francisco.

Villanova 78, Butler 58: Maddy Siegrist scored 31 points, her 10th 30point game of the season, Christina Dalce had a double-double and No. 19 Villanova rolled to a win over Butler.

Oklahoma 93, West Virginia 68:

Skylar Vann came off the bench to score 16 points with eight rebounds, three steals and three assists and No. 20 Oklahoma used a hot start to race to a win over West Virginia.

UTSA 58, Middle Tennessee 53: Jordyn Jenkins scored 20 points and had 16 rebounds and UTSA upended No. 21 Middle Tennessee.

Texas 68, Kansas 65: DeYona Gaston scored 24 points and intercepte­d a half-court pass as time ran out to preserve No. 24 Texas' win.

South Florida 65, SMU 63: Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu scored 21 points, Sammie Puisis had a double-double, and No. 25 South Florida rallied.
