Poet will read work on Sept. 21

ALBANY — Poet Susan Comninos will read from her work at the Social Justice Center, 33 Central Ave. at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21 with an open mic for community poets.

Comninos is a published poet and author of the recent book of poems Out of Nowhere. Her poems have appeared in the Harvard Review Online, Rattle, The Common, Prairie Schooner and North American Review, among others. This fall she will begin teaching an online workshop for Poets House, called “The Mythic ‘I’: writing the surreal, self-deluded, or seething narrator in poetry.”

Phil Barrett and town board will present Key to the Town Awards and Environmen­tal Stewardshi­p Awards to 11 residents. Key to the Town Awards will be presented to Manoj Ajmera, Dr. William Long, and Dr. Hsin-Pang Wang (posthumous). The Key to the Town is presented to Clifton Park residents who have dedicated themselves to decades-long work that has positively impacted the town and the greater region. The Environmen­tal Stewardshi­p Award is presented to Clifton Park residents who have dedicated extensive volunteer efforts to positively affecting the preservati­on, protection and enjoyment of special areas in the community. The 2023 Environmen­tal Stewardshi­p Awards will be presented to: Lenny Casper, Bill Connor, Jim Flaherty, Stuart Feuerstein, Eric Hamilton, Alicia Jacobs. Kristin Murphy and Raymond Seymour. The board will consider resolution­s to make the awards official at Monday’s meeting.

Mohawk Valley is filled with historic buildings that have the potential for rehabilita­tion and reuse.
