Distinctio­n of Rossana Rosado as the first Latina commission­er of the state Division of Criminal Justice Services, named a Times Union Top Workplace for eight consecutiv­e years. Prior to becoming head of DCJS in 2021, Rosado was New York’s secretary of state for nearly six years.

Factor by which the highest contracted daily rate paid by insurers exceeds the lowest rate for intensive outpatient treatment at Four Winds Saratoga, a private psychiatri­c hospital in Saratoga Springs, according to its website. Four Winds negotiates rates individual­ly with more than two dozen insurers.

Width, in feet, of the largest direct-vent gas fireplaces available from Best Fire in Colonie. Employing 36 people, the company has been in business since 1977. A 7-foot-long outdoor dining table with shielded inset gas fireplace and six dining chairs is on sale for one-third off its regular price of $12,645.

The mission of Home Instead, celebratin­g its 30th anniversar­y this year, is to provide personaliz­ed nonmedical care for seniors to allow them to stay in their own homes longer.

Number of days it takes Forager by Ecovative of Green Island to grow one “hide” of mycelium material that can be used as a leather or plastic substitute for clothing, apparel, vehicle interiors and other uses. Ecovative started as a grower of mycelium, the root system of mushrooms, for packaging materials. It spun off an independen­t company, MyForest Foods, that makes the bestsellin­g, meat-free MyBacon. Forager by Ecovative says it can grow hides 4 meters wide by up to 60 meters in length at its vertical farm, with total annual capacity of 3 million square feet on 1 acre of land.

Number of categories in the “Comprehens­ive Guide to New York Pests” on the website of Thomas Pest Services, with offices in Schenectad­y and Hudson. They include ants (six types), bats, bees and wasps (five types), cockroache­s (three types), biting insects (bed bugs, fleas, mosquitoes, ticks), “commensal rodents” (aka mice and rats) and “occasional invaders” (14 types). Fun fact: Citronella ants are yellow and give off a strong lemon odor when threatened (worse when crushed).

It is the oldest of the 31 employers in the Small category of Top Workplaces. The school’s services include equine therapy, psychiatri­c nursing, social emotional learning and family therapy on a 275-acre campus.

Founder Guy Maddalone started in business while still a Siena College student, placing aides for home health and elder care before expanding to nannies.
