Gerdeman, Huban lift Cadets to league title

Pair of 76s tie for top individual score at the Colonial Council finals

The Albany Academy golf team cruised to a first-place finish at the Colonial Council championsh­ip on Friday at Sycamore Country Club in Ravena.

The Cadets posted a top score of 307, 39 shots ahead of second-place Ichabod Crane, which finished with a 346 at the tournament.

Sam Gerdeman and Chris Huban both finished with a 76 to lead Albany Academy and post the top individual scores. Ryan Warnick was third with a 77 and Nick Lyons was fourth with a 78 to help the Cadets grab the top four individual scores.

Trevor Wolfe of Ichabod Crane was fifth with an 80. Girls’ soccer: Paige Padilla scored two goals to lift Maple Hill over visiting Cairo-durham, 2-1, in a Patroon Conference contest. Laney Bruck scored the lone Cairo-durham goal . ... Greenville nipped Taconic Hills, 2-1, in another Patroon Conference matchup. Isabella Trostle scored both goals for Greenville . ... Amsterdam took a 7-0 loss against high-powered Scotia, but goalie Karen Troche produced 26 saves in the defeat. Tanya Leggiero had three goals while Megan Steele had a score and two assists in the Foothills Council win.

Boys’ soccer: Andrew King had a goal and an assist to lead South Glens Falls past rival Glens Falls, 4-0, in a Foothills Council game at South Glens Falls. The Bulldogs held a slim 1-0 halftime advantage before erupting for three goals in the second half to run away with the win. South Glens Falls climbed to 5-3 with the victory. ...Luke Apy drilled home a direct kick from about 20 yards in the second half as Saratoga Catholic defeated Hoosick Falls, 1-0 . ... Ryan Edwards scored a goal in each half to spark Schalmont’s 2-1 Colonial Council road win against Voorheesvi­lle. His game-clinching goal came with 25 minutes left.
