ALBANY — Tafil Lule, “i Gjonomadhi­t”, 83, of Albany passed away, surrounded by his family, on September 20, 2018. Born in Gjonomadh, Albania to Myslim and Nazime Lule, Tafil led a full and happy life.

Tafil is survived by his wife of sixty years, Rakibe Lule; his sister, Ferzilet Haxhillari; as well as by his children, Nina (Amet) Brace, Diana (Maksi) Ceci, Verjan (Edlira) Lule, Tia (Armand) Lule, and Blerim (Elona) Lule. He is survived by his grandchild­ren, Ervin Brace, Ilda Ceci, Rigelsa Brace, Devis Ceci, Joana Lule, Pamela Lule, Arbri Lule, Alisa Lule, and Cassie Lule-ymeraj; as well as by his greatgrand­children, Alexa, Ryan, Carissa and Emma; Also, survived by his nieces, nephew, and the rest of his extended family.

A man of many talents, he served for over thirty years as the Agricultur­al Specialist for the town of Gjonomadh. In his free time, he became a great bee-keeper; providing, jars of honey to the people of his beloved town. He traveled throughout Greece, before immigratin­g to the United States. Tafil and his wife, Rakibe paved the way for their family to eventually immigrate to the U.S., giving his children the opportunit­y to live a better life and making it possible for his grandchild­ren to achieve their dreams. One of his proudest moments was becoming a citizen. He spent his days mostly outdoors, constantly perfecting and expanding his vegetable garden. Known for having a green thumb, he delighted in sharing his fresh vegetables with family, friends, and strangers alike. When he was not working in his garden, he would be found chopping wood or riding his bike.

Although Tafil loved being active, he was happiest sitting in front of the fire, surrounded by his family while drinking a “kafe turke” and a good “ponc.” A man of quick wit and great humor, he will be remembered for his enthrallin­g stories and his adventurou­s spirit.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. A funeral service will be on Monday, September 24, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in the Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
