Police describe SUV in Clifton Park crash
CLIFTON PARK — State Police released a photo Monday of a piece of an SUV involved in a hitand-run crash in Clifton Park on Saturday that seriously injured a 21-year-old pedestrian.
A large silver-blue piece of a model year 2007 through 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe was found at the scene.
The injured man was in a crosswalk at the intersection of Lapp and Crescent roads when he was struck by a vehicle that left the scene driving eastbound on Crescent, police said.
The man was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital in stable but serious condition.
An initial description of the vehicle said it was a blue/gray Hyundai with extensive passenger side damage.
Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call 518-583-7000.
‘Distraction burglars’ spur police warning
NORTH GREENBUSH — Information is trickling in to police about the “distraction burglaries” in town.
After two reports on Oct. 23, North Greenbush police issued a news release and, since then, police heard from witnesses or those who had video of the suspects and their vehicle.
In both cases, three men went to homes on Douglas Street and Winter Street Extension and told the homeowners they were from the water department, North Greenbush Chief David Keevern said at the time.
The suspects told the homeowners there was a broken pipe that could be affecting the home. Two of them distracted the homeowner while a third searched through closets and dressers. Homeowners became suspicious and told the suspects to leave before anything was stolen.
Investigators learned of several other similar incidents throughout the Northeast matching these burglaries.
North Greenbush police said they are working with various state, local and federal law enforcement agencies to identify and locate the suspects.
Police urge residents to be cautious.
“If someone is legitimately at your house for a utility emergency or problem, they will have no problem providing credentials which can be verified through the company they claim to be from,” North Greenbush Chief David Keevern said.
Anyone with information is asked to call North Greenbush police, 518283-5323.
